Our History
Our clinic had its beginnings at Redwood Centre in Winnipeg's north end some 35 years ago when a young dentist by the name of Frank Molnar decided to set out on his own shortly after graduating from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba. Dr. Molnar embarked upon a long and distinguished career as a dentist, practicing this entire time at Redwood Centre at the corner of Main Street and Redwood Avenue.
Throughout the years Dr. Molnar built a loyal patient following that was actually quite easy for him to do because folks liked the personal and quality service that he offered. He essentially treated his patients like family. They always knew that he would attend to their oral health care needs with the highest degree of professionalism in an affordable manner and that he'd never push unnecessary treatment.
When Dr. Molnar decided to scale back as part of a segue into retirement he wanted to make sure that the legacy he left would be passed on to someone he knew he could trust. To this end, and after an extensive search for such a successor, he decided to transfer his clinic to Dr. Ryan Head.
During this time the clinic evolved. First, and in consideration of Dr. Molnar's great dedication to the St. John's community of Winnipeg's north end, the clinic was rebranded and is now called St. John's Family Dental. Then, a major renovation took place to modernize equipment and procedures and make patients' experiences even better.
After three more years of working, Dr. Molnar decided it was time for him to switch gears and devote his energies to his family and other interests so he announced his well deserved retirement in early 2020. He knew the clinic would be in good hands with Dr. Ryan Head at the helm.
We wish Dr. Molnar much health and happiness as he explores another chapter in his life.
As St. John's Family Dental moves forward, we continue to cater to our patients' oral health care needs by providing them not only with the family friendly and professional service they have come to expect but the addition of new services.
We now have a hygienist and an additional assistant. We've expanded our space and built another operatory and we've modernized to meet the ever changing demands of the field of dentistry by adding more equipment such as a panoramic x-ray scanner. Additional services are also now provided such as some oral surgery, orthodontic and endodontic treatments.
Although many changes are presently occurring to our clinic to modernize it, the one thing that hasn't changed and will never change is our commitment to family friendly, comfortable and affordable oral health care for our patients.

He graduated Senior Matriculation with Honours in French Immersion from College Beliveau and then went on to receive a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Biochemistry, from the University of Winnipeg.

After developing an interest in and passion for dental medicine, Dr. Ryan attended the University of Manitoba’s Faculty of Dentistry, and after four more years of study, received his Doctor in Dental Medicine degree from this institution, achieving numerous awards for high standing along the way. And his learning has not stopped there as he continues to grow and learn as he attends dental conferences and training sessions all over North America.
Since his graduation in 2010, Dr. Ryan has acquired a broad base of experience in general dentistry as well as specialty areas in oral health care. He has associated with a number of different Manitoba clinics over his career, both urban and rural, each of which have developed his skill set in unique ways. He has a keen interest in oral surgery among other aspects of dental medicine.
This experience has enabled Dr. Ryan to care for a wide spectrum of patients of all ages and backgrounds, each with oral health issues that are as unique as they are.
Dr. Ryan’s calm and caring approach combined with his attention to detail and training in state of the art dental procedures and protocols means his patients receive the best of care.
